Best Homemade Pumpkin Spice Sauce

I love pumpkin spice lattes and if you are here… you probably do too. Whether you are hoping to make a pumpkin spice latte at home or want to add some fall flare to your oatmeal, this pumpkin sauce will hit the spot this fall. It is straightforward, requires few ingredients, and is about as clean as pumpkin sauce can get.

This particular pumpkin sauce is pretty mild in sweetness. You can add additional maple syrup or possibly molasses if you are looking for a sweeter or bolder flavor.

I have plans to attempt a maple pumpkin reduction to make something that is more similar to a thick syrup so stay tuned for that! I’ve already made apple cider syrup which was perfect for cocktails and ice cream so giving pumpkin a shot is definitely worth it.

For this recipe all you need is pure pumpkin puree (homemade or canned), pure maple syrup (don’t you dare use that corn syrup stuff), vanilla and almond extract (you could also try caramel and butterscotch extract), and pumpkin pie spice. Just mix them together in a glass storage container and pop it in the fridge. A mason jar would be ideal but all of mine were in use when I made this first batch.

You can adjust the flavor by adding more or less pumpkin spice, changing out extracts, and using alternative sweeteners.
