If you’re looking for a chill Myrtle Beach golf experience for beginners and beach lovers, this 24-hour guide blends affordable golf, ocean views, and resort living. From Myrtlewood Golf Club to Ellie’s Beach Resort, here’s how to spend one perfect day in Myrtle Beach if you’re new to golf and love beach resorts.

Golf at Myrtlewood & Poolside at Ellie’s
Before golfing, stop by the PGA Tour Superstore. With wall-to-wall clubs, gear, and apparel, it’s like Disneyland for golfers. Even if you don’t buy, it’s a fun browse. If you’re new to golf or just like being a golf cart passenger princess like me, it’s fun to browse golf attire and practice your put and swing before hitting the course.
Now hear me out, I know Myrtle Beach is loaded with amazing golf courses, but many of those come with a hefty price tag. If you’re in Myrtle Beach more for the beach experience but also want to enjoy a round of golf, Myrtlewood Golf Club is a great place to go. With two championship courses and views along the Intracoastal Waterway, it’s a great beginner golf course in Myrtle Beach. I quite enjoyed the turtle and rabbit sightings on the course. Of course, I had to sip on a Transfusion.
Truth be told, I am not a golfer, but I am a great score keeper and a decent golf cart driver. Even though I am not that into golf myself, my partner is and when in Myrtle Beach, golf is a must! However, it has to be followed up with an amazing beach resort stay. And for that, Ellie’s Beach Resort is your go-to.
Dinner at Ocean Blue & Cocktails on Springmaid Pier
For dinner, make your way to Ocean Blue at Ellie’s. I loved the dining experience here. We sat outside with a view of the pool and the ocean. We were actually the only ones seated outside, which made for an intimate dining experience. I ordered the short rib dish and my significant other had the crab cakes. We both loved our dishes and they were plenty filling.
The short rib was so tender it fell apart and it was perfectly paired with a creamy mashed potato side. I also had a beachy cocktail. The atmosphere of this restaurant doesn’t feel like hotel dining. It feels like you’re at a completely separate establishment, which is quite nice. They even had live piano playing taking place inside around the lobby bar, which would have been a pleasant experience as well.
While it’s nice to explore any area in which you’re staying, after a long day out in the sun, I appreciated that we didn’t need to drive anywhere to enjoy a nice meal and cocktail. Simply being able to walk there from our room was great. After our meal, we went back to our room to relax for a bit before taking a nighttime stroll along Springmaid Pier and enjoying a cocktail at the Southern Tide Bar & Grill. They have some great blended/dessert-style drinks, which were a perfect nightcap. While we missed the sunset, the city skyline was a beautiful view from the pier.
Beach Walk, Coffee & PGA Store Stop
Start your day with a morning beach stroll right outside Ellie’s Beach Resort. Next, head to Milk & Honey for breakfast and coffee. This local favorite serves hearty plates and artisan coffee, which is perfect fuel before your next tee time if you have more golf in store. On the drive home, stop at the PGA Superstore one more time to snag a souvenir, a polo, or that club you didn’t grab yesterday.

Staying at Ellie’s Beach Resort
After the round of golf, head to Ellie’s Beach Resort for check-in and relaxation. From the moment I pulled up to The Ellie Beach Resort, Tapestry by Hilton, I was impressed and excited to explore. With 5 pools and a lazy river, there is no shortage of opportunities to unwind poolside.
Ellie’s Beach Resort is located right on the beach, so if the pool isn’t your vibe, then hit up the private beach for some sun. If you’re planning a golf and beach getaway, Ellie’s Beach Resort makes the perfect home base. This oceanfront property combines laid-back coastal charm with modern amenities, so you can relax in between rounds of golf or a day exploring Myrtle Beach.
First Impressions & Location
The resort sits at 3200 South Ocean Boulevard, right on the oceanfront, so you’re just steps from the sand. It’s also very convenient: less than 10 minutes from Myrtle Beach International Airport, and only a quick drive (or fairly short walk) to Market Common, shopping, restaurants, and boardwalk attractions.
With a stay at this resort, you’ll wake up to crashing waves and plenty of possibilities for outdoor activities. From my balcony, I had a great view of the family-friendly pool with plenty of fun water slides, as well as the ocean. It was cloudy during my stay, but the views were still great. It was nice to get a bit of relief from the heat. There’s just something about seeing an ocean view first thing in the morning. It really makes for a good start to the day.
Rooms & Accommodations
The rooms are spacious, clean, and decorated in a way that balances coastal vibes with modern comfort. Mine had a balcony with a partial ocean view; others offer full oceanfront views.
Some features I noted:
- Air conditioning that worked well even when it got humid.
- Free WiFi throughout the room and common areas.
- Amenities like a coffee/tea maker, and refrigerator were available. These little things that make a big difference, especially early mornings or for late-night snacks.
- The bed was comfortable, sheets crisp. Sure, you hear a little traffic or the occasional noise (walls aren’t bulletproof), but nothing that spoils sleep much.
Resort Amenities & What To Do
This is where The Ellie really shines. If you like options, this place gives you plenty.
Pools & Water Fun
There are multiple pools: outdoor, indoor, and kiddie-friendly ones too. Whether you want to lazily float along a river, watch your children shriek as they fly down water slides, or hang out at an adults-only pool. There is no shortage of pool activities here.
One of the outdoor pools was shaded for part of the day, which was a relief under the midday sun. The indoor ones are nice, especially during off-season when you want pool time but the weather isn’t beach-perfect.
Dining
Ocean Blue offers oceanfront dining, good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The view from this restaurant, especially at sunrise or sunset, is something to look forward to and as I mentioned earlier, the dinner was beyond delicious.
Also, Southern Tide Bar & Grill is located right on Springmaid Pier, which gives you a slightly different, more pier-over-water feel. We found this to be a great spot for a quick bite or a drink with a view.
There’s also The Market, which is perfect for grabbing a coffee, ice cream, or something quick if you don’t feel like a full meal.
Other Perks
You’ll find a fitness center/gym on-site, which is handy for getting a workout in when you need a break from lounging. This resort is also super spacious. If I weren’t there purely for vacation, I could see this being a great pick for weddings, conferences, or family reunions. There are oceanview ballrooms and plenty of room for many people. It’s also a pet-friendly resort, so if you travel with dogs, that’s a big plus. It’s also equipped with EV charging stations, which is a plus for many!

Things That Could Be Better/Tips
Since no place is perfect, I observed a few caveats to mention (so people know what to expect):
Noise: Some rooms experience thin walls or corridor noise. If you’re a light sleeper, requesting a quieter room away from main walkways helps.
Resort fees: There are extra charges (for resort amenities, beach/pier access, etc.) that might catch you off guard. It’s worth checking the fine print.
Parking: Self-parking is available; valet is not. It’s okay, but worth knowing.
Busy times: The pools, restaurants, and the beach get more crowded during peak seasons/weekends. If you like peace, try going off-peak or plan meals/tours outside prime times.
My Takeaways
After a night there, The Ellie struck me as a great balance: family-friendly luxury without too much stiffness, activity without pushing too hard, and calm without being boring. What made it worth writing home about was the view from my balcony, the variety of pool options that let me choose between sun, shade, indoor, or outdoor each day.
I love that it’s easy to grab fresh food on-site and so you can simply step off the beach straight into a proper dinner facility without a long drive. The location is amazing, it’s close to multiple city highlights but still full of enough amenities that I could do almost everything I wanted without ever leaving the resort.
